Hearst National Championship Finalists Announced

The William Randolph Hearst Foundation has announced the 29 journalism students from across the country who will compete in the 57th annual National Writing, Photojournalism, Radio, Television and Multimedia Championships held in San Francisco, May 29-June 2, 2017.

The finalists include eight writing finalists, six photojournalism finalists, five radio finalists, five television finalists and four multimedia finalists chosen from the monthly competitinos, selected from a record 1,267 entries received this year.  At the hampionships, the finalists will participate in various spot assignments chosen by our judges, competing for additional scholarship awards ranging from $1,500 to $5,000.

Representing Oklahoma State University in the 2017 National Championships is Nathan Ruiz, who will be competing in the Writing Finalist competition later this month.  This will be the third time in three years that at least one of our students will compete for a natinal writing championship.  

In addition, our School finished fourth in the Intercollegiate Writing Competition.  This is a tremendous honor for our School and Student Media.  This is our second top five finish in the last two years; and our third top ten finish in the last three years.
