Electronic Communications Internship -- Edmon Low Library

A collaborative, exciting, creative team seeks an Electronic Communications Intern who can strategie and write both proactive and reactive content for a variety of electronic formats including social media content, blogs, web and email.  The successful candidate will complete the internship with numerous published writing samples and broad experience in the area of communications relevant to new professionals entering the field.

The Electronic Communications will work 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.  Hours will be scheduled during Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Attendance may be required for 1-3 evening events per semester, including Nov. 9, 2018.  Some special project hours may be available during the summer depending on schedule.

Salary:  $11.50 per hour

Responsibilities:  Intern will be a content creator and a brand ambassador.  Intern will write, design, listen and engage.  Asa member of Libbrary Communication Services, the intern will also be called on to contribute to brainstorming sessions for campaigns and special projects, appear in Library videos, edit and proofread Library publications and perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:  
* A student in School of Mdia and Strategic Communications who has successfully completed Media Style and Structure or a student with equivalent experience
* Comfort contributing to the messaging and development of marketing and public relations campaigns
* Willingness to appear and/or speak on camera for Library promotional video
* Ability to maintain professional decorum in a team environment based on idea generation, creativity and collaboration

Desired Qualifications:
* Proficiency in AP style
* Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Google Drive, and ability to work on PC
Proficiency with Constant Contact, Blogger, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
