They told her to dream big dreams, and that’s exactly what she did.

Emalee Williams, a small town girl from Marlow, isn’t a typical country girl.

Williams had aspirations to make it big and hoped to land a job opportunity in cities such as New York, Los Angeles or Chicago. Her dreams didn’t blossom quite as she had imagined.

Williams would say she is exactly where she is supposed to be; she is recently married, working and building a family back home. She is more than happy where she is. Williams is the executive director at Charis Pregnancy Center, a nonprofit in Duncan, where she helps the community by supporting families and women in need.

Williams said landing the executive director position is one among many of her personal successes. She also recalls her other personal successes, such as being a wife, supporting her family back home and graduating from Oklahoma State University.

Reflecting on at her college experiences, Williams benefited from attending a university where she was able to learn how to manage her time and balance the activities. She remembers her experiences in Kappa Alpha Theta and the leadership roles in organizations such as The Association for Women in Communications and the Ad Club.

Classes kept Williams occupied, too. Working late on graphic design projects is one of her favorite memories in the Paul Miller Building. She recalled this is where she met her closest media friends. Williams is thankful for the opportunity to study with her classmates and professors and misses time in the journalism building and at OSU.

Williams wants to make sure every student enjoys his or her undergraduate career.

“Soak up every moment,” Williams said. “Don’t neglect grades, but have fun.”
