As a 2016 graduate, Courtney Bay transitioned from an internship during her undergraduate years as the production assistant for Orange Power Studios to a full-time multimedia producer.

While studying Sports Media at Oklahoma State University, she was able to explore her passion for multimedia and athletics. Bay attributes her success to the extensive preparation she received in the School of Media & Strategic Communications. The upper- level professors have the process of preparing senior students down to a science. The dedicated faculty, extensive opportunities and good production experience helped prepare her for her dream job.

“I wanted to grow up and be the Cowboy Football videographer and to work in a place that I love,” Bay said. “This is a place I aspired to be at early on, and I attribute all of that to SMSC and the experience and professors that we had.”

During her first year as multimedia producer for Orange Power Studios, Bay learned quickly in the fast-paced environment. The close-knit environment caused Orange Power Studios’ employees to be adaptable and wear multiple hats.

Most of Bay’s job is creating and publishing social media. This was not the original career path she intended to take, but after learning the basics, she found her strengths are in this area. She hopes all current SMSC students will learn all aspects of media and communications.

“Get as many repetitions in the stuff you do want to do and as many repetitions in what you don't want to do, then figure out what jobs you want to get,” Bay said.

While embracing general media knowledge and taking advantage of her education, Bay not only earned her degree but also the experience needed to obtain and succeed in her dream job working for OSU Athletics.
