SMSC and ITLE Scholarship Information

2017-18 SMSC Scholarship Recipients and Award Winners


Freshmen:
Through the support of our generous donors, SMSC is proud to offer scholarship opportunities for incoming freshmen pursuing Multimedia Journalism, Sports Media or Strategic Communications.  
The Bill and Beth Patterson Scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman student from the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area.  
To Apply:  Freshman students are automatically considered for our scholarships when they apply to OSU.  No additional application is necessary!  Apply to OSU by November 1  to be considered for the “Early Opportunity Scholarship Deadline.” The final OSU scholarship deadline is February 1.  ** THIS SCHOLARSHIP HAS BEEN AWARDED FOR 2018-19.
Fund Disbursement:  Students receiving scholarships are invited to the SMSC awards banquet held in April.  Scholarship funds are disbursed half for the fall and the other half for the spring semesters. Scholarship amounts are contingent upon funds and are decided at the beginning of the spring semester.

SMSC Scholarships
SMSC awards a wide variety of scholarships for continuing students through the support of our generous donors. Our various scholarship accounts are listed below:

AdClub Scholarship: Member of AdClub, 3.0 GPA
Alpha Epsilon Rho—Broadcasting Society (fall only scholarship): Member of Alpha Epsilon Rho, 2.75 overall GPA; 3.0 in major
Bailey/Hathoot/Edwards Families Scholarship: All SMSC majors, 3.0 GPA
Bill and Nita Connors Scholarship in Sports Journalism: Sports Media News majors, 3.0 GPA
Bill Teegins Memorial Scholarship: Multimedia Journalism and Sports Media-MMJ majors planning a career in sports, 3.0 GPA
Chester Gould Scholarship: Daily O’Collegian staff member demonstrating creativity through cartooning, graphics & layout 3.0 GPA
Elmer Woodson Memorial Scholarship: All SMSC majors, 3.0 GPA
Eric Bost Memorial Scholarship: Daily O’Collegian staff member, 3.0 GPA
Hal Phillips Memorial Scholarship: Multimedia Journalism and Sports Media-MMJ majors, 3.0 GPA
James Eldon Cates Scholarship: Junior or senior status, 3.0 GPA
Lisa John Scholarship: Multimedia Journalism and Sports Media-MMJ majors 3.0 GPA
Michael R. Dixon Scholarship: SMSC major preferably from the Duncan, OK area, 3.0 GPA
Paul Miller Memorial Scholarship: Multimedia Journalism-News and Sports Media MMJ-News, 3.0 GPA
Rives Journalism Scholarship: Daily O’Collegian staff member, 3.0 GPA
Sam Love Memorial Scholarship: Multimedia Journalism-News and Sports Media (MMJ-News), 3.0 GPA
Synar Journalism Scholarship: Sports Media (SC and MMJ-Production), Strategic Communications and MMJ-Production, 3.0 GPA
Walker Stone Memorial Scholarship: Students pursuing newspaper careers, 3.0 GPA

ITLE Scholarships
The Institute for Teaching and Learning Excellence (ITLE) at OSU awards three scholarships for continuing students pursuing degrees in Multimedia, Sports Media and Telecommunications Management.  The Robert G. Elston Scholarship is a $2,000 award.  The J. O. Grantham Scholarship is a $1,000 award. The Dan Ozley Scholarship is a $1,000 award.

To Apply:  There is ONE electronic scholarship application students fill out to be considered for all SMSC and ITLE accounts. The electronic application will be available at media.okstate.edu December 5. Deadline will be February 1.

Graduate Students:
Through the support of our generous donors, SMSC is proud to offer scholarship opportunities for graduate students.
The Kendall Durfey Scholarship and the Synar Scholarship.
To Apply:  Electronic scholarship application will be available at media.okstate.edu on December 5.  Deadline will be February 1.
