College Magazine Staff Writer

College Magazine is seeking writers who are passionate about the college experience.  College Magazine writers capture student life through weekly articles.  The position begins with a 7-week writer training to tackle active voice, show vs. tell, interviewing source and more.  Working closely with College Magazine's editors, writers transform their writing skills and ultimately uncover their voice.  Writers also learn social media, branding and SEO tactics necessary for the real world of journalism.  The opportunity is 10 hours a week.  It's a volunteer, intensie, and challenging writing experience.

Graduates of the program have gone on to caeers at Mashable, Vox, NBC, Seventeen Magazine, U.S. News & World Report, Redbook, National Geographic, Random House, Rachel Ray Magazine and Washingtonian.  Applicants are welcome from all majors.  Previous writing experience for a college-level publication is a plus.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
* Research data, develop resource bank, and prepare messaging for CCOSA.
* Create and maintain relationships with the media to ensure news regarding CCOSA is being shared with appropriate audiences.
* Act as media spokesperson along with the Executive Director and serve as the primary point of contact for all media inquiries.
* Proactively pitch stories to the local media.  This includes developing, writing and distributing news releases about CCOSA and responding to
  media requests.
* Develop annual strategic communication plans including measurable goals, objectives, and tactics.
* Develop and produce all print and online marketing collaterals including Better Schools, brochures, signage and flyers.
* Produce new content for digital media via the CCOSA website and social media channels.
* Coordinate and manage all special events for CCOSA and its affiliated organizations.

* Conduct continuous media monitoring of all news coverage related to CCOSA and review media clippings.
* Provide communications training for CCOSA member districts.

* Develop the CCOSA story, review the logo and brand.
* Create a robust social media presence.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field of study required.
* Communication experience preferred.

SKILLS:
* Current working relationship with local media is preferred.
* Superior written and verbal communications skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Strong understanding of common social media platforms.
* Skilled in creating, editing and promoting written and visual content.
* Utilize social media to engage with and connect with the community.
* Analyze and explain news relating to public education.
* Collaborate and cooperate with others in fast-paced work environment.

Meteorologist Job Opening in Denison, Texas

KTEN Television, the NBC/ABC/CW affiliate in Denison, Texas, has an immediate opening for a full time television meteorologist.

The select candidate for this position will have experiece in WSI or Weather Central industry-standard weather graphics and forecast platforms including live Doppler weather radar integration.  Well demonstrated experience in weather alert systems as well as extensive knowledge of social media with the ability to disseminate weather information across multiple platforms is also required.

All candidates should possess a meteorology or science-related degree.  You should also be certified as a meteorologist or be near completion of the requirements for certification.  Please be aware that shift hours will vary, so the ability to work any shift is required.  This is a rare entry-level opportunity for recent college graduates in a growing market.
