The 57th annual program offers up to $500,000 in scholarship awards, matching grants and stipends, and is open to undergraduate journalism majors in the accredited unit (with the exception of entrants in the photojournalism competitions).

SPJ Mark of Excellence Awards

Annually, rhe Society of Professional Journalists presents the Mark of Excellence Awards honoring the best in student journalism.  The contest offers categories for print, radio, television and online media in divisions for small  (1-9,999*) or large (over 10,000*) [*total student population].

Entries are first judged at the regional level.  First-place regional winners advance to the national competition and are recognized at SPJ spring conferences.  National winners will be showcased on spj.org. 

The contest is open to anyone enrolled in a U.S. college or university and all international students.  Entries must have been published or broadcast during the 2016 calendar year.

All entrants must complete the online entry form at  awards.spj.org .
