ESPN/ABC sportscaster Jeannine Edwards was the main speaker at the first meeting of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) of 2015-16 on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Hideaway Pizza.
The National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association is hosting its annual student journalism training program, Connect, at the 2015 National Convention & LGBT Media Summit from August 31 to Sept. 5 in San Francisco. Each year, NLGJA chooses 12 students from across the country to participate in its training project, which provides real-world experience to undergraduate and graduate students who are considering a career in journalism. This year, Thomas Jones, a senior in Multimedia Journalism, has been selected to participate in this training project. NLGJA will pay for the selected students' convention attendance, airfare, food and hotel at the convention site.
This summer, Caleb Surly, an OSU Sports Media major, worked as an intern for ESPN in their Bristol, Connecticut headquarters. As a Social Media Production intern, he gained valuable experience by using ESPN’s social media platforms as tools to report the events that ESPN covers.
