Dr. Clara Bae

Assistant Professor

Dr. Clara Bae earned a Ph.D. in Media and Information Studies from Michigan State University and an M.A. in Mass Communication from Korea University.

Her research focuses on strategic marketing communications, specifically examining cause-related marketing communication.  Other research interests include information processing strategy in decision making, consumers' visual attention and their perception, consumer psychology and cross-cultural communication in advertising.  Her work has been published in the Journal of Consumer Marketing, Computers in Human Behavior, Asian Journal of Communication and Journal of Promotion Management, among others.

She teaches Media Planning and Persuasion.

Dr. Bae is a member of the American Academy of Advertising, the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, National Communication Association, and the Midwest Political Science Association.  She has also served on the editorial review boards of the International Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Communication and served as an ad-hoc reviewer for International Journal of Communication, Computers in Human Behavior, and the Journal of Promotion Management.  

Prior to academia, Dr. Bae worked as a producer and a host of the current affairs talk shows in the major broadcasting company in Korea.
