Madison Cunningham
2019 Rising Star
B.S. Multimedia Journalism 2016; B.A. Theatre 2016

Maddy Cunningham is a proud OSU alumna and a member of the McKnight Scholars Leadership Program.  She graduated in 2016 with a degree in multimedia journalism and theatre.  Following graduation, Cunningham moved to New York City and began working at the ABC News headquarters with the Emmy-award-winning 20/20 team.  Since joining the team, Cunningham has helped to produce over 100 hours of network television and aided in the exhaustive task of rebranding 20/20's staple one-hour crime show into a two-hour documentary-style narrative.

Over the last three years, Cunningham has had the opportunity to cover some of the world's most talked about events.  From the 2016 presidential election to the Thailand cave rescue during the summer of 2018, Cunningham has spent many late nights working with some of the nation's most respected journalists to aid in factual and accurate reporting across broadcast and digital platforms.

In addition to breaking-news programming, Cunningham has also been a part of producing many two-hour archival documentaries spanning a wide variety of subjects.  Most notably, she has helped cover American serial killer Ted Bundy, infamous figure skater Tonya Harding and the tumultuous Watergate political scandal.

Cunningham continues to pursue interesting and inspiring narratives about the human condition and is passionate about captivating an audience with a story.
